Rheumatism is the common name given to the musculoskeletal disorders that affect one or more structures such as ligaments, tendons, muscles, bones, etc. Generally, the pain associated with rheumatic diseases is caused by wear of articular cartilage, inflammation of a joint or bone decalcification. Also, rheumatic pain may occur from the same joint or from situades structures around it, such as muscles, tendons, etc. It can also appear only in joint movement or be persistent becoming so annoying as to prevent sleep. Besides, rheumatoid arthritis can occur in more than one joint and causes pain, swelling and stiffness.
