Phlebectomy is a surgical technique for removal of varicose veins, performed through small incisions (less than 2mm) into the skin of the area concerned. The procedure involves introducing a hooked instrument with which the varicose segments are extracted. Recovery will depend on the number and size of the vein, but in general, the patient will need two or three days to resume normal activity and shall keep elastic compression stockings for approximately two to four. With the technique of vein stripping is improved circulation in the area of the varicose vein relieving common symptoms they cause, such as pain and heavy legs usually manifest.
