Immunological diseases: what are they and how to treat them? (P1)
An autoimmune disease is when the person's immune system attacks itself. Immunological diseases are treated through various specialties, one of which is neurology.
These diseases happen because the cell becomes confused and begins to attack itself and destroy itself. Usually it is by genetic processes or by immunological changes caused by viruses, bacteria or chronic inflammations. Depending on the tissue being attacked, the disease will be named. Some of these diseases are sclerosis, lupus, arthritis and cirrhosis. All these autoimmune diseases destroy tissues and cause death.
Most common autoimmune diseases in Latin America
The most common autoimmune diseases in Latin Americans are those that attack collagen such as lupus, rheumatoid arthritis and sclerosing dermatomyositis. In other countries in Europe or the United States there are neurological diseases such as multiple sclerosis, demyelinating diseases, degenerative muscular and, depending on the zones, kidney degenerations, liver, lupus nephritis, liver cirrhosis and pulmonary fibrosis, which destroy little by little the tissue, causing the decrease of the quality of life in the patient.
